What is flotation?
What is flotation?
Floating is let the water carry you in Sensory Isolation for 1 hour and experience the sensation of weightlessness. Floating also means isolating yourself in a cocoon outside time and space, free from noise and visual pollution... Finally, it's refocus on sensationsIt's a way of connecting with your body, your inner world and your intuition. In the end, floating is about taking time for deep relaxation and regeneration.
For many of our travellers, flotation is the ultimate relaxation experience!
The 3 main principles

The big three
principles
Flotation at Meïso

The weightlessness effect
To begin with, most of our brain activity is dedicated to balancing against the force of gravity. So, floating on a water solution saturated with magnesium salt gravity is reduced by 80%This frees up our mental resources for other activities. And more, relieves muscle and joint pain feeling of weightlessness.

Sensory isolation
At meiso, and in our day-to-day lives, we are constantly adapting to new challenges. stimuli transmitted by our 5 senses. So what we see, hear and smell is constantly being interpreted by our brain. When we are protected from these external stimuli, our brain can enter a different wave frequency (theta). specific to the meditative state. In the end, this state is ideal not only for recharging your batteries, but also for learning, and explore your imagination and creativity thanks to sensory isolation.
Epsom salt
Thanks to a large quantity of Epsom salt (900kg) that can float on water. In fact, this mineral salt has been used for centuries to relieve muscle and joint pain and alleviate skin problems. What's more, it combines two minerals essential to the body: sulfur and magnesium. Finally, an Epsom salt bath helps reduce any deficiencies in these minerals.

The benefits of floating
Self-knowledge begins by listening to your own silence
Inner exploration
Once freed from gravity and external stimuli, the inner journey can begin. For example, the physical relaxation created by the sensation of weightlessness facilitates access to altered states of consciousness conducive to introspection, creativity and intuition. What's more, it's also the ideal environment for meditation and concentration on sensations. In conclusion, it's an hour out of time and space for self-discovery.
Free yourself from stress
Imagine a space where you're free from all external constraints and pressures. In other words, no beeping, no ringing, no emails. Just the peace of silence for your reunion with yourself. Indeed, the sensation of weightlessness creates a deep physical relaxation that also facilitates mental relaxation. As a result, thoughts become more distant and calmer. Last but not least, sensory isolation is one of the most effective anti-stress techniques, the benefits of which have been proven in a number of studies.
Boost your skills
Deep down, we're all a bit like superheroes. Yes, we're all full of incredible abilities, sometimes buried, but always available. In fact, the floatation cocoon is the ideal environment for revealing these capacities by facilitating concentration, visualization and mental training. It also speeds up muscle recovery after physical exertion. Finally, you emerge relaxed and energized, ready to take on new missions!
To be carried in turn
What could be more pleasurable, as gravity takes its toll, than to be carried around? Firstly, floating helps to relieve pregnancy-related aches and pains, and to restore postures that had become impossible (on your back or stomach). What's more, it's also a great moment of intimacy, when many women feel very connected to their future baby. After all, floating in a skin-temperature liquid, without light, in a large, vaulted bubble, sounds familiar?
What happens in our brains while we float?
Our brain's activity can be observed in the electrical frequencies it produces. For example, we recognize theta frequency (4 to 7 Hz) as the very brief daydreams that occur before falling asleep, as well as that of the meditative, introspective state. Ultimately, these theta frequencies appear when the body, emotions and thoughts are relaxed. For the uninitiated, they therefore lead directly to sleep.
Floating facilitates the appearance of of this brain frequency and prevents (or delays for others) falling asleep. Finally, some see it as a way of saving 20 years of Zen monastery. But like all training, this won't necessarily happen in one session, and from one person to the next, from one day to the next, experiences are totally different.
